Hey beautiful people,

Happy New Month! I wish us all a month full of love, joy and peace. I think most of us would agree that January has been quite a long month. I read a funny tweet by Jarek who tweeted ”did any of y’all ever think that the reason why January is taking so long is that it’s giving us time to look for dates on valentines?” Image result for laughing emoji .

Okay so enough chit-chat, let’s get into today’s post.

I will be sharing some notable points that I found in one of my recent reads called ‘Practicing the Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle.  I have read some amazing books in my life but none have challenged my values and my perception of life as this book has. It is incredible! Disclaimer* This is not a sponsored post.

1. Realise deeply that the present moment is all you have. The author talks about honouring and accepting ‘now’ in order to be free of pain and suffering. This relates to how important it is to focus on our ‘now’.

2.The Joy of being. I found this particularly profound because as human beings, sometimes we get so caught up in our past and regrets, we get so fixated on them and forget to acknowledge what’s going well in our lives at the moment. The author talks about the benefits of giving our fullest attention to what the present moments present – acceptance –  because we can only give attention to what we accept. When we start to honour the present moment, life begins to flow with joy and ease, we get a sense of quality, care and love.

3.The past cannot survive in your presence. The author emphasises on how  important it is to deal with the past on a conscious level. To give attention to our present moments, our behaviours, our reactions, moods, thoughts, emotions, fears and desires in order to deal with the past. But not dealing with the past by spending time there.

”Only the present can free you of the past. More time cannot free you of time”

The question ‘what’s going on inside of me at this moment?, I found quite interesting, because it requires self-awareness. It also links to the ability to be as interested in what goes on inside of us as much as what happens on the outside.

There is definitely a learning experience that comes with reading, there is a sense of growth within me since I began reading this book and I really just want it to continue. This is especially important for me considering I spend an average of 6 hours per day on social media(mostly because I manage two accounts, check out my business page @MIO-Prints). The bright side of this is that I get to connect with you guys!

This year is going to be great for all of us, I can feel it!

See you soon,

Florence
